Marijuana is illegal in Vietnam, and both recreational and medical use of cannabis are prohibited. Cannabis possession is considered a criminal offense, and those caught with marijuana can face severe penalties, including imprisonment. The Vietnamese government has not moved toward legalizing medical cannabis, and there are no discussions about marijuana decriminalization at present. Cannabis trafficking is treated as a serious crime, and cannabis cultivation is illegal. Vietnam’s marijuana laws remain among the strictest in Southeast Asia, and the country continues to enforce a zero-tolerance policy toward cannabis use.

Danang is said to be one of the safest cities in Vietnam and you will rarely see any police patrols.

On China Beach, it was safe to smoke out of the city – on the way to HoiAn (eg. the beach at Hoas’ Place). It also goes ok with the bonfire which is lit up almost every night.

Prepare to meet difficulties in finding marijuana in Danang. In front of major night-clubs or discos you might find somebody selling but we understood the prices might be significantly higher than in HCMC or Hanoi.

Prices are ranging from 50.000VND to 100.000VND (3 – 6 USD) for a pack of cigarettes filled with weed. Bargaining is a must, since at first sight you will be asked for anything between 10 – 20$.
